Here's a little insight into the owner of Ickady Bag

1. Tell us a little about yourself.
Hi. My name is Thiriya Ramingwong. I now live in Chiang Mai, the second big city, a beautiful northern province of Thailand. I grew up in Chiang Rai, a beautiful place to the north of Chiang Mai. I went to France two years ago to pursue my dream of studying dressmaking, but French was a bit too hard for me. :) I came back to Chiang Rai and started a one person business for making bags. I sold around one thousand bags in two years which was exciting. Then I got married and moved to Chiang Mai where I am now. My new family is truly amazing. They give me support in everything I do. My sister-in-law also inspires me to start an online shop on Etsy.

2. How did you become interested in creating?
I love handcrafting since I can remember. My mother had a business for selling handcraft supplies. That might be what got me into creating things. I love making clothes for my dolls when I was young. Doll clothes are not easy to find at that time, and my mom would not buy those things for me. So I made it myself. It was fun. I started making bags when I was in the University. I wanted to have new bags but I did not want to buy. So I made some for myself.

3. What is your inspiration?
I love to look at every source available. I looked through magazines for new ideas on bags. I looked at someone's bag when I walked pass them. When I had something in mind, I used Google to find the inspiration. I also love to draw when I get an idea. Etsy is a good place to look around to see what other people like.

4. What is your favorite piece you've made and why?
I have a few favorites. The first one is not a bag but it is a flower pin. The first bag I made for my Etsy shop is a simple pleated bag. So I thought of a way to decorate it, and I came up with a flower pin which now was given away with most of my bags. Customers like it. I think it makes bags more beautiful too. The second one is my ruffles laptop tote which I just sold the last one. It is functional and pretty. I love ruffles. I think I should do more. I love the bow bag too. :)

Dangle Earrings - Fashion Passion

Maroon Handcrafted Beads with Metallic and Black Bicone Beaded Earrings
Black Handcrafted Clay Beads with Blue Sapphire and Black Beaded Earrings

Two different styles but very classy looking.

The maroon beads are handcrafted using clay and then I accented them with silver colored mica powder. I've also attached metallic and black bicone beads.

The black beads are also handcrafted using clay.  I accented these using gold colored mica powder and attached blue sapphire and black beads.

Both these sets can be used as a dress up or dress down style. Both of these are for sale in my Etsy shop.

Brown Button Ring with Clear Bicone Beads - Fashion Passion

                                    Handcrafted Button Ring

I love accessorizing with my outfits.  Even though on the weekends I enjoy wearing my jeans, t-shirt and flip flops I still enjoy adding some small accessories to complete the look.  I enjoy wearing different looking rings so I decided to create my own using buttons and beads.  Yes...the look has been around for a while but to design one according to your own taste is rewarding.  This is just one of the few designs that I currently just finished.  Keep your eyes open for more to come.  This brown button ring with the clear bicone beads will be for sale in my Etsy shop very soon!

Until my next blog...Happy Fashion.

Help Save Our Furry Babies

Paw print with black and purple beads
Paw print with black and green beads

I've always been an animal lover ever since I was very young.  I had a dog, hamsters, birds, and turtles.  I had a dachshund growing up and her name was Tootsie.  That was my buddy.  I even tried adopting a dog but my mom told me no.  Which completely tore me up.  My husband and I were lucky to add a new addition to our family nine years ago.  Our furry baby was a white boxer that looked so much like "Petey" from Our Gang.  He was such a great dog.  Then the unthinkable happened....last year in March we had to put our boy down.  Complete devastation.  I don't think I've ever felt so much pain of losing something in my life that day when we had to say our good-byes to him.  I couldn't stop crying that day.  Even now thinking about him it gets emotional for me.  It's been just a little over a year and the hurt still seems to creep up and cripple me at times.  That's a void that unfortunately will never be filled.  But since then my husband and I decided to rescue a dog and give a home to a furry baby that needed love, attention and to have a life that they should have.  We love our new boy very much and he's adjusted very well.

Over the past few months I've seen and read some pretty intense things concerning animal abuse not only in the United States but in other counties.  And to be honest it's completely mind blowing.  I feel things need to change in the court system quickly in order to prevent anyone from hurting animals the way I've seen in pictures.  I won't get into details but I felt one way that I could help is to raise some kind of awareness as well as money to help local rescues and different organizations that are out there trying to save these animals. So I've decided to create some hemp styled bracelets with handcrafted clay paw beads and colored beads.   These will come in 6", 7", and 8" sized bracelets but they can also be customized as well.  A portion of the proceeds made on each bracelet will be donated to local rescue groups or other rescue organizations out there.   A couple are available in my Etsy shop for sale now.

And thank you for showing your support in ending animal abuse.

Mother's Day Surprises - Crafting

Handcrafted Goody bags
Contents inside each goody bag.

Here are some Happy Mother's Day goody bags that I did.

My nana's goody bag on the left contained one handcrafted plumeria scented soap with one lip balm from Orangethyme

My sister's goody bag (center) contained one handcrafted lavender scented soap with a bunch of lips balms from Orangethyme along with a few handcrafted earring sets.

My grandma's (husband's side) goody bag on the right contained one handcrafted apple scented soap.

I enjoy making handcrafted items for holidays and birthdays.  Simply because they are one-of-a-kind and I can also customize for that person.  I also enjoy seeing their face just light up!  :)

Until my next blog...Happy Crafting!
